ASI Systems Testimonial Shoot

Another 6 hour trip today, and found myself back in Manhattan on another shoot….this time working with Rob from ASI Systems who is being featured in an upcoming business article. New York City is without a doubt one of the most amazing places on earth, however I was reminded today of how much I would hate to live there (no offense to those that do)…. it seems like the driving, the parking, and pretty much everything just becomes so stressful and tires you out quickly in my opinion. I always enjoy our trips when we go on various shoots to different places, but I was happy to get home this afternoon and take a nap!

Today’s shoot with the mainframe computers in the background was extremely challening as they were protected with glass from every direction, not leaving many options for lighting or different angles, etc….. to avoid reflections, I had to pretty much light from the side, and shoot our subject from behind the glass, which was tough! Here’s a quick sample from the shoot.

Ok…. back to work here – 2 upcoming weddings this weekend, so be sure to check back for some samples!

Engagements w/ Matt & Veronica!

Let me start by saying I hope everyone is in the mood for flowers today…. lots of em! We finished up the last shoot of our 3 day shooting marathon today with an engagement session with Matt & Veronica, who are another one of our upcoming 2008 wedding couples. These two are always a lot of fun to hang out with, and think we got some great shots today…. yet another wedding that we are sure to look forward to :)
These past 3 days have defintely been “go, go, go” for us, so I’m looking forward to putting my feet up tonight and sleeping in a bit tomorrow (I’m allowed to do that every now and then, right?) As we are heading into an even busier time of the wedding season, I’m doing my best to keep up with things…… we will be shooting an amazing 5 more weddings over the next 2 weeks if you can believe that, so I definitely am trying to brace myself for the craziness that’s about to hit!
We are hoping to have these past two weddings as well as all the engagement photo sessions completed over the next few days and will be working around the clock to get things done!

Engagements with Zach & Cate!

This morning, we had the chance to meet with Zach & Cate for the very first time to discuss their upcoming 2008 wedding, as well as do a few engagement photos in the studio. (They are from North Carolina, and were up for the week). Now that we are doing more destination-type weddings and offering packages nationwide, we don’t always get the chance to meet with the bride and groom until right before the wedding….. it was great to have the opportunity to meet them today and look forward to their upcoming wedding next year. Here’s a quick sample shot from our session!

Thanks again guys, and hope you have a safe trip back home!

Zachary - Hi Matt–the pictures of us look great! I have a quick question for you…what song was playing during the slideshow example you showed us?

Zach and I loved the song and may consider it for a wedding song. I’d appreciate it if you could drop me an email with the title and singer.

Thanks,

-CateAugust 20, 2007 – 2:11 pm

Shayne Lavoie – In Loving Memory

There are times in life when you realize just how short it is, and after hearing of an extremely unfortunate incident, today is one of those times. While shooting the wedding of Lee & Jackie last weekend, I had the opportunity to meet the DJ, Shayne, who was also the fiance of the Bride’s sister. While I hadn’t met Shayne before, I had the opportunity to talk to him quite a bit that evening and recognized how friendly and what a great guy he was…. in fact, he was the last person I spoke with as we left the event that evening as we said goodbye.

I can’t tell you how disheartening it was to hear that the very next day Shayne was invovled in a motorcycle accident, where he was killed instantly at the scene…… while I didn’t know Shayne that well, just talking to him and working with him the day before his death has really hit home for me and we’d like to express our deep and sincere condolences to the family. We are still going through photos from this event, however will be donating any and all photos of Shayne to the family.

Again, a very sad and tragic event…. I’m positive that Shayne will be missed by hundreds – above is a photo I found of him that I wanted to share – I’m hoping we’ll have a few more as we continue to look through things. For anyone interested, you can see the news article below:

lindseyuvm@hotmail.com - Thank you so much for thinking of Shayne. I live in FL but was Shayne’s room mate in college. On a daily basis I have been looking online for articles regarding Shayne’s accident. It’s amazing how much of an impact he had on people, even a brief encounter like yours. He was so full of life and an amazing friend, he will be greatly missed. Once again thank you so much for writing about him!
Sincerely, Lindsey E. AndersonAugust 21, 2007 – 3:56 pm

Bobbi LaVoie-DeFilippis - Thank you for your touching memory page. I am Shayne’s sister Bobbi. This picture speaks a thousand words and more about my brother. He will be truly missed by everyone he has come in contact with throughout his life which has become very obvious thorough these last couple of weeks. Much of which I have always known about him and his personable ways.

I cannot say thank you enough.

Thank you, Bobbi

Anonymous - A part of my heart…I went to highschool with Shayne, I hadn’t talked to him for years but it didn’t matter. If you have talked to Shayne you know that his heart stayed with each person that was close to him. -Erin C. NelsonMarch 8, 2008 – 1:41 am

Matt Ramos - Thank you all for your comments…. Shayne seemed like an amazing individual, sourrounded by love and positive energy. Though, I only knew Shayne for 1 day out of his life, this was easy to see.

I’m sorry for your loss :(

Engagements with Kristin & Stephen!

After last night’s wedding, 4 hours of sleep, and over 6 hours of driving today, I’m clearly running on pure adrenaline……and still can’t sleep as you can see! (I was pretty cranky today according to my wife :) Despite my complaining, we had an awesome day today meeting Stephen & Kristin for the first time and shooting their engagement photos for their upcoming 2008 wedding. While I’m sure it’s easy for them to take for granted a view they see nearly everyday, not every couple has the opportunity to have the New York City skyline in their engagement photos, and this made the shoot extra special I think – I’m sure many would give anything to have such an opportunity.
Kristin & Stephen make a great couple, and were both extremely easy to work with…. Stephen hammered me with questions, and by the time we were done shooting, I could barely remember my own name… (I’m kidding – actually it was great to see a future groom taking so much interest in what we do… not something we get a ton of as I’m sure you can imagine). On a serious note, I can tell this is going to be a fun wedding and certainly look forward to counting down the days with them.
Thanks to Stephen & Kristin for inviting us down to their hometown, and really enjoyed working with you…. We’ll be going through all the photos this week and will hope to have things ready for viewing within a week or so!
Tomorrow’s another full line up of shoots and meetings, so I’m officially off to bed!
P.S. While shooting, we could see heavy smoke over the Ground Zero area and where the towers once stood….. it was sad to come home and find out on CNN that what we were looking at was a fire that killed two firemen.
