Time for Another HDR Wedding Image……

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted any HDR stuff, and I couldn’t sleep tonight, so decided to play around with a few more photos from the Jason & Jessica Wedding we did a few weeks ago.  This shot was basically shot as a candid as the bride walked down the stairs for the first time to greet her father, who anxiously awaited seeing his daughter for the first time on her wedding day.

Sometimes I’m shooting for the vision I see in my head, other times I’m just shooting away in a photojournalistic way.  This one was meant to be photojournalistic, but it’s funny how sometimes those are the ones that become art, rather than just a picture.  Here’s an HDR style shot I played around with tonight and really liked – you’ll have to help me in deciding which color version you like better?  I think I prefer the blueish tint since it’s different than what I would normally do, but I find myself going back and forth.

Back by Popular Demand – More South Dakota Images…..

Let me first start by saying, I was disappointed that no one called me out on the fake ghost I embeded into one of the shots from the Thomaura & Bob Wedding (second image set down, middle photo) – You guys have really got to start paying better attention.  I will expect a better analysis of future fake ghosts I decide to slip into images from this point forward! :)

So……….. I’ve received a few emails and calls in reference to some of the recent South Dakota posts from our vacation last week and asking if I had more to share.  Since I aim to please around here, I dug up a few more shots I thought I would post (sorry to those that are sick of them).

Congratulations, Thomaura & Bob! Beardslee Castle Wedding….

After all the weddings we shoot each year at the Canfield Casino, Hall of Springs, Glen Sanders Mansion, Franklin Plaza, Saratoga National, Vista Van Patten and all the other top reception sites, it was nice to break away from the norm with something a little different than usual.  Not many people can say they got married in or at a castle, however, Bob & Thomaura definitely can!

Beardslee Castle is about 1 hour outside the Capital Region and is an incredible place for a wedding.  If you do the research, story has it that the castle is haunted and numerous sightings and strange things have happpened in and around it…. I tried to mix wedding images with a bit of a spooky or dark feel to show this – I didn’t see any ghosts, but this may have been because I was blinded by all the dj’s lights.  (there were times I thought I was at a rave).   On a serious note, I would highly recommend any of you getting married and looking for something a little different, check this place out – the food, service, surroundings, etc. were top notch!  (although I’m not sure you’ll want to sleep here at night). (Be sure to check out this video below of the Castle!)

We met Thomaura & Bob (and their newborn son, Luke) about a year ago and as I say with many of our clients, consider them to be such good friends and such good people in general – this is another one of those couples that I can see myself being good friends with long after we are done doing business together.  Despite some pouring rain about 5 seconds after the outdoor ceremony ended, I’d say they had a pretty amazing wedding, and we have tons of great photos to share from the day!  For those interested, you can pre-register your email at the link below to receive automatic notification of when images go live (usually 2-4 weeks).  A huge thanks and congratulations to Bob & Thomaura – best wishes in all that you do and especially in your new marriage!

Of course, I leave you with a few samples of the day below!

P.S. I chose to shoot this wedding on my wife, Tonya’s birthday (I’m an ass I know, trust me) – but just wanted to mention it – today was “T-Day” and we had fun up in Lake George doing a little belated celebrating.  Considering I skipped her birthday to shoot a wedding, I’m glad it was with a couple like Bob & Thomaura! I’ll try to be a better husband next year :)

Beardslee Castle

Just got in from my our wedding with Bob & Thomaura at the Beardslee Castle.  I have one eye open and need to go to bed, but wanted to post something quick beforehand.  I’ll give more details in my full blog entry tomorrow, however the casle is said to be haunted and has quite a story to go with it and many ghost sightings…… I decided to use the lightning and rain tonight as an opportunity to get something erie looking of the Castle to go along with it’s story….. I was hoping for a few more lighting bolts, but this will have to do.

More tomorrow and lots of samples coming soon – I’m off to get some sleep!

In Rare Form – A Little Humor For You…

Every now and then, I get in one of these moods where I find everything really funny even when maybe it isn’t and go into rare form (I think it happens when I’m really tired and haven’t slept).  I bought a new High Def camcorder this week so have been on YouTube much more than normal.

This ladder in this first clip is amazing – I will definitely be picking one up after watching this video.  Then again, I’m torn between the first or the second one.  My latest humor interest seems to be in shopping channel shows, however I stumbled onto the 3rd video by accident, which is completely unrelated, yet hysterical (well in my opinion, anyway).  Here’s your humor for the day, hopefully I won’t offend anyone :)

Jamie - Thanks for the laugh, Matt. The last one made Tom laugh from across the room while he’s wrapped up in video games :-)

While we’re on the topic of potentially inappropriate humor, do a search for “Everyday Normal Guy” on Youtube and click on the first video… It had us laughing for quite some time…August 3, 2008 – 2:23 am
