FRINGE – The New Show You Have to Watch!

Matt Ramos Photography

Without a doubt, one of our favorite shows on TV is LOST, which Tonya and I (and Jamaica) are completely addicted to (it’s like watching the Superbowl each week – that’s how into it we are!)  For those that watch it, they know what I’m talking about, however when I try to explain how amazing the show is to other friends and family, I get the same excuse…… “I waited too long to try and get into it, and will never be able to figure out what is going on without watching the entire season, and don’t have time.”  A valid excuse I suppose, but very disappointing that they are missing out on some of the most brilliant writing tv has ever seen (in my opinion).

For those that are into LOST, it’s creator (JJ Abrams) is at it again with a brand new show with the same brilliant writing, mysterious storyline which you have to try and figure out, and great acting – We watched the first episode of the new show “FRINGE” tonight, and I am already hooked!  I’m going to go out on a limb only one show into it, by saying that this may end up being even better than LOST, however we’ll have to wait to see how my prediction turns out.

So….. those that love LOST and are going nuts that the new season has not yet started, you absolutely will love Fringe, trust me.  And, for all those that continue to make up the same excuse for not having watched LOST all this time, now is your chance to pick up on a brand new show from the very beginning so you don’t have to try and figure out what’s going on 2 months from now when everyone is talking about it.  The next episode is Tuesday at 9pm ET, and below is a quick trailer to hopefully get your attention – be sure to check it out!

Back From a Weekend at Saranac Lake…

On Friday, I turned another year older and wiser.  For my birthday, Tonya surprised me with a weekend getaway up at Saranac Lake with a nice cabin on the water and a boat to go fishing with on Saturday!  I must admit it was a little weird going a few days without any computers or tv’s, but it was really nice to have the time to relax and get away from the stress of work, the dogs, having to answer emails, phone calls, etc (no offense :)  There’s something about sitting on the water with a fishing pole, beer, and a cigar that is priceless – a rare treat, that’s for sure!

It rained all day Friday, but luckily we had a really nice day on Saturday to go out on the lake with, which was awesome.  I’ve come to realize that Tonya and I don’t get enough time for ourselves or to vacation each year, so we are hoping this can be something we do each year to “recharge the battery.”  I did my best to fish, drive the boat and get some photos for you, and here’s a few quick samples from our trip below!

9/11 Remembering Those Lost & A Day That Would Forever Change the World….

I’m sure I speak for millions when I say that today is a day that now brings a mixture of feelings each year (anger, sadness, dread, sorrow, etc.)  While I did not have personal family or friends injured or killed, as a New Yorker, this is something that really hits home for me when I think about all that was lost, all those families affected, and ultimately how the world was changed forever, all in the blink of an eye.  During 2001, I was living about 40-45 minutes outside of NYC, and had the dreadful opportunity later that week to visit the WTC as parts of the remaining tower still stood smoldering with the smell of smoke , melted steel, and death all around…. a sight an smell I will never forget.

Similar to the Challenger explosion in 1966, no one will ever forget exactly where they were or what they were doing when 9/11 took place, and it’s hard to believe it’s been 7 years since that dreadful morning.  Today is a day of not only mourning for all Americans, but a day to reflect upon and appreciate the things we have and those you love.  Thoughts and prayers are with the thousands of people who lost a love one, and who’s life would forever change, seven years ago today.

Maternity Session w/ Jacquelyn & Peter…….

After our morning session with Jared & Alina, Tonya and I had the opportunity to hang out with good friends, Jacquelyn & Peter to shoot some maternity photos, before the mystery baby is born (the sex is being kept a secret, which I think is pretty cool).  It has been a long time since I have last seen Jacquelyn, and our friendship is one that has lasted for several years as we not only were able to capture their wedding day, but also used to work together for several years in the corporate world together.  She is a great friend, and her husband, Peter, is without a doubt an awesome guy that’s always a lot of fun to be around.

As busy as we are shooting what seems like a never ending crazy calendar of events and portraits this year, I’m probably a bit guilty of sometimes forgetting the just how special some of the things I get to document truly are….. today was a reminder of this for me, and I was glad to be able to help document such a special time in Jacquely & Peter’s lives – It will be exciting to learn the sex and meet their new addition in a couple weeks (you’ll have to check back for newborn photos maybe :)

A huge thanks to Jac & Peter for making the trip up from New Paltz….. it was awesome to see you guys, and am so happy for you….. of course, I leave you with a few quick samples from our session together below….

P.S.  I’ll be working behind the scenes this week to try and keep caught up with our insane workflow schedule, however will more than likely be taking a few days off.  My birthday is this coming weekend (Friday), and Tonya is treating me to a getaway trip in the Adirondacks and a cabin on Lake Saranac (which I can’t wait for).  It will be nice to get away, and I hope to get some cool photos while I’m up there to report back with.  Have a great week everyone, and thanks for checking in :)
