Photoshop CS4 – Content Aware Scale…

I just picked up a new copy of Photoshop CS4, which is without a doubt, part of our everyday workflow in the office.  There are some really cool new features that the program offers, but one of the coolest new things for those that have not seen it yet, is the content awareness scale, which allows you to stretch or shrink an image without distorting it (previously impossible to do without destroying the image).  I’m going to post a few of my on samples so you an get the idea, but check out the video below to see how cool this new feature is!

Adam - Holy sh*t. I’m still using CS… but considering I don’t get to use it at work, I haven’t made it a priority to upgrade to 2 or 3. I think I’m going to have to get my hands on a copy of this one after watching that video. Thanks for the head’s up.November 2, 2008 – 9:52 pm

Heather & John II – Riverstone Manor Wedding

Due to the fact that we’ve shot so many weddings this year, I don’t always get the time to play around with the images I want when doing the blog entries – every now and then I skip over a few images that I really like when I do them.  We are doing our best to crank out as many weddings as possible this week, and have two on deck to be released within a few days – here’s one I found from the Heather & John wedding (about 3 weeks ago) that I really liked.  Tomorrow we’ll be shooting with Daphna & Lee, so stay tuned!

Canon’s New 5D Mark II – Impressive Updates in SLR Camera Technology…

I’ve never been much into video to be honest, however Canon’s new highly anticipated 5D Mark II camera, not only shoots 21 megapixel stills, but also has built in recording at 1080P for professional quality video (which a photographer can also pull high resolution stills from).  I can’t make any promises just yet, but I can definitely say that camera technology continues to evolve, and something like this is sure to change what wedding photographers can offer their clients in the near future.  I’m afraid to even post this as I’m sure I’m going to get flooded with emails and calls now asking me if I can now shoot video at next year’s wedding, but definitely like to keep all of you updated on some of the new technoloy coming out as well as some of the new toys we’ll be purchasing.

We have two of these babies on order, which are due to be released in Mid-End November.  Click the link below to watch a sample of what was created using Canon’s new 5DII SLR – pretty impressive stuff if you ask me!

Conratulations, Tom & Jamie!! Staten Island Wedding

Without a doubt, one of the most anticipated weddings of the year has been that of Tom & Jamie, who booked us nearly a year and a half ago before a they had even selected their recepton hall, church, etc.  Since day one, Tom & Jamie and Tonya and I clicked and I knew it would be the start of not only a great client relationship, but an even stronger friendship when all was said and done.  Tom and Jamie have driven up twice now all the way from Staten Island to shoot a few photos, and it’s been a blast over the last year + getting to know them, learning about Tom’s fascination with superhero’s (loves superman – LOVES!), and even getting our very first Guitar Hero lessons from them.  They are both amazing individuals, and together are even more incredible.

We’ve been planning and talking about this wedding for a year and a half now, and of couse on the day it all finally happened, it pretty much rained and poured all day, putting a huge damper in many of our photo ideas and opportunites that we had really looked forward to.  Despite this happening, they were both troopers, and we did our best to find things and places around the hotel to try and shoot with (ugh – no pressure!)  They were tough enough to go out in the rain for a few shots which was good :)

Shooting a wedding outside of my normal area was definitely a unique and fun experience (not to mention it was nice to get away for a few days).  Tom and Jamie had an awesome bridal party and family and we’d like to sincerely thank them for allowing us to document such a special day.  Tom and Jamie have been huge blog stalkers all year and it’s finally their turn to have their on entry and wedding samples – I’ve been working on this one for a long time today! :)  For those interested, you can pre-register your email at the link below to receive automatic notification of when images go live (usually about 30 days or so).

Again….. a HUGE congratulations to Tom and Jamie and best wishes in their new marriage.  They are headed on their honeymoon today, but am sure they’ll be checking the blog from their hotel – be sure to leave them lots of love and comments below as I’m sure they would love them! :)  Of course I leave you with a few samples from our day together!

P.S. Special thanks to April Rounds from Details Wedding Planning who did a fantastic job and also drove down to Staten Island for the weekend to help Jamie with her needs, keep her calm, and help the day to flow smoothly…. if only she had the power to control the weather!

Jamie - The first thing we did when we got off the plane was turn on my blackberry to check the blog :-)

The photos are amazing! You guys rock! I can’t believe you managed to make such horrible weather look beautiful in the photos!October 28, 2008 – 12:59 am

Jess - These pictures are outstanding. Every free chance I get – I log on to look at them over and over. They really capture how amazing and fun the wedding was!October 28, 2008 – 5:38 pm

Carole – Mother of the Bride - I left my comment down by the cake picture. Ooops! Read it thereOctober 28, 2008 – 9:20 pm

Karyn - Matt & Tonya, I wish you were around in the 70′s when we (Jamies cousin’s) were all getting married!
Tonya- I would have had her tied up backwards! Your notice to detail throughout the day was very impressive.
Matt- Your art is more than pictures. You actually can capture their Look of Love!
Jamie and Tom are the most perfect couple. It is amazing to watch them enjoying each other whenever they are together, and you have captured that in just the few pictures I have seen.

Now listen to the Mother of the Bride and get going on the rest – we all can’t wait to see them!October 29, 2008 – 8:55 am

Vynne Mauro (mom of groom) - Hi, Matt and Tanya…don’t know if you will even get this message. I am so computer savvy, I have never blogged anyone before. Remember I still use a film camera! I just want to thank you for the pleasure of your presence at Tom and Jamie’s wedding. You are the nicest couple..I can see why you became “instant friends” with Tom and Jamie. The pictures (tease) so far are beautiful..I keep looking at them. Can’t wait to see the rest..I am sure I will want them all. You are obviously not just wonderful people but talented and artistic as well. Please also tell April that I didn’t think there was a need for a wedding coordinator, but now I don’t see how we would have done without her. She was just great as well!October 31, 2008 – 10:56 am
