I had the pleasure of shooting 2 weddings this past weekend, the first of them being with Maria & Bubba!  I don’t normally photograph weddings on my birthday, but when I first met Maria, I just couldn’t say no to her…. aside from a little rain, it turned out to be a great day and a fun wedding :)

One challenge of shooting weddings from September til the end of the year is the fact that it gets dark much earlier than usual, which can make outdoor portraits difficult unless the couple is deciding to see each other before the ceremony.  For those of you blog stalkers still planning out the details of your wedding, we recommend planning to see each other beforehand, or having the ceremony earlier in the afternoon to give time for this.  Since it was pretty dark after the ceremony, we decided to go for some cool night shots (some of my favorite stuff to shoot!)  Maria & Bubba were great to work with and we always have such a great time working at the Franklin Plaza (exceptional service and food)…. I always want to give props to one of my favorite DJ’s, who made the party, Chris Hollister of Cool Cat Dj!

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to shoot another awesome wedding with Jean & Shaka, down in Poughkeepsie.  Of all the weddings I’ve ever shot, I have to say Jean is without a doubt one of the happiest brides I have ever photographed (and it shows in  her photos!)  It’s not often you have a bride giggling and smiling as much as Jean, and it certainly made my job easy!  I was having a pretty rough day, and Jean & the girls definitely helped to put me back in a good mood :)

After a beautiful ceremony at an old church in Poughkeepsie, we headed over to the Vanderbilt Mansion for some quick photos, and then back for the reception which was held at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel.  The entire group, from the bride & groom, bridal party & family were awesome to work with and would like to as always, thank them for allowing us to document and hang out for the day.  For those interested, you can pre-register your email to receive automatic notification of when images go live (about 30 days) at the link below:
