New Website Up and Running!

After about 6 months of work, I’m really proud to announce the launch of our new website, which officially went live this week. With the help of some great web designers, we’ve put a lot of effort into creating a fresh new site with lots of great new features that I’m really excited about. Some of the upgrades the new site has vs. the old site are:

-a fancy flash intro (which you can choose to skip if you like)
-easier navigation through menus and pages to browse and find the information you want
-larger image galleries and the slideshow options to browse through images easier with
-an interactive calendar with automatic links to sunset times, online viewing & ordering sites, blog entries & even status updates for your event-added product & album pages with information & photos to help educate of various styles and options
-a new gift and registry page that allows couples to easily add us to their bridal registry for various options
-easy access to make payments online, find online viewing & ordering events, facebook, etc

I hope you’ll enjoy the new site… I want to give some props to Stephen of www.equali.com for doing an amazing job as well as www.overit.com for their fancy intro presentation. Ok, enough telling you how cool it is, click here to check it out for yourself! :)

Maternity Photos / Capital Region / Albany, NY

I don’t shoot a tremendous amount of maternity or infant photos to be honest, but being a new father is somewhat having me rethink some of the types of work and projects I want to further pursue moving forward. I had the opportunity to hang out with good friends, Fortunata (Nata) and Angelo last night to shoot some quick maternity photos before the baby comes. Recently going through the experience of becoming a new father myself, I’m quickly realizing how important the documentation of maternity and newborn photos & videos can be first hand. Nata & Angelo are keeping it a secret as far as what they are having, but you can bet we’ll have some follow up images of their new addition very soon, so you’ll have to check back to see the results (my guess is it’s a girl :) Here are a few samples from our session together last night that I wanted to share….. Sealed with a Kiss* Product Spotlight – the Kiss Wedding Album

One of our hottest new albums we are now offering is the Kiss album, which packs quite a punch with it’s plush leather, seamless binding, thick pages and amazing overall quality! They come in various colors of leather based on preference, and I decided to order a new show album for our studio in brown, which I just had to blog about to show you how nice these truly are. Product Spotlight – Canvas/Gallery Wraps – A Must Have!

With most weddings, the couple likes to have one nice framed and matted print made up for their mantel or home from the wedding (in addition to the album). One of the hottest new products that people are going crazy over lately, are the new canvas/gallery wraps we now offer – they are a stunning piece of art and come ready to hang on the wall directly out of the box (assuming UPS didn’t damage it like this one here lol)

I ordered a nearly 50″ tall canvas of Raegan & Travis here (one of my absolute favorite images of the year) and am absolutely blown away at how amazing it is….. as you can see, this one had a bit of an accident which I probably shouldn’t be blogging about, but it is seriously absolutely incredible! They are shipping me a brand new one right away, but I had to show you how cool it is. We’ve been hard at work during the wedding off-season, and as a result, many of our album masterpieces :) are now coming in on a weekly basis! It’s always exciting to see the UPS guy with a new album set, and this is what he brought us today, which I’m sure Cate & Zach will be very excited about. Graphi-Studio is one of my favorite album carriers and in my opinion offer some of the highest quality albums you can get, amongst others. Cate & Zach went with a huge 9.5 x 13 book for themselves (souped up w/ metallic pages!), 2 8×12 parent albums and a set of 8 4×5 pocket books that Zach plans to carry around with him in his “man bag” (only kidding, Zach).

For those of you still dragging your feet on ordering that wedding album, now is a great time to place your order as our team is standing by ready to design. New Maternity Session (Capital Region Maternity Photos)

Hello, everyone! I want to again, apologize for my lack of blog entries lately as I have been very busy shooting, designing 2008 wedding albums, and prepping for the upcoming 2009 season in general. Soon enough, wedding season will be in full swing, and I will have loads and loads of blog entries and images for you all to check out – in the meantime, I know I have been pretty boring and apologize!

A few days ago, I had the opportunity to shoot an amazing maternity session with a bit of a local celebrity here, in the Capital Region. (So that I can attempt to give her a bit of privacy, I’m not going to mention any names in this blog post). I’ll admit, I don’t shoot a million of these a year, however had a blast capturing some great images in the studio together. These are meant to be a gift for her husband for their upcoming anniversary, which I’m sure he will love – more importantly, I think maternity images will someday be so important to the child (or in this case twins, which are due in about 5 or 6 weeks). It means a lot to me as an artist to be able to capture such special moments in a person or family’s life and look forward to hopefully photographing the babies once they are born (you’ll have to stay tuned for an update).

I can’t even begin to tell you how many amazing images we captured from this session, however even though I’m going nuts wanting to show you some of the other awesome stuff, I’m going to hold off on posting anything further to respect privacy, unless I got permission to do so – I’ll update this later if that ends up being the case.Here are a few of my favorites from the day!

The Story of Bill, Angela & Madeline (Maddy)……

Over the years it’s been awesome how many amazing people I’ve had the opportunity to meet and new friendships made since becoming a photographer. I often have to remind myself that behind the art of what I try and do, it’s really about documenting special occasions in people’s lives (it can sometimes be easy to forget when you do it for a living) – I think this is ultimately what keeps me motivated in doing what I do along with having the opportunity to work with so many great people each year and do what I love most.

So…… A few years ago, I received a call from Angela and her husband Bill, who had just moved to the area from St. Louis, and were looking to find somewhat of a “family photographer.” Our first shoot together was in the park together just to get some fun photos of the two of them. Little did I know after that day that I would play a bigger role in helping to document their family. Several months later, we received another call from Ang & Bill letting us know they were pregnant and we had the opportunity to shoot some maternity photos with them. Upon giving birth to their beautiful little girl, Madeline, they called us from the hospital to ask if they could bring her by to have us photograph her…. at this point, she was literally 2 days old I think (who calls their photographer from the hospital by the way, that’s nuts - lol!) Again, we were able to shoot with them & capture some amazing shots of Madeline (Maddy) and without a doubt one of my all-time favorite photos of Bill holding his little girl in the palm of his hand (see photo below).

A few years passed, and while we always wondered how they were doing, lost contact with each other. A few weeks ago, Tonya and I were shopping in our local Home Depot and much to our surprise stumbled into a couple of familiar faces…. it was Bill & Angela….. and along with them a beautiful little girl who I had literally not seen since she was 2 days old. It was truly a surreal moment for me to see a living, walking, talking little person with a personality and smile when the last I’d seen her she was an infant - it’s amazing how things like this happen sometimes. It was exciting to have Bill, Angela & Maddy come over last night for some updated holiday portraits and to have dinner (and play guitar hero!) and was so great to see them after all this time and our given history with them. They are truly an awesome couple and now great friends of ours….. I wanted to share this story since I thought it was pretty cool how things have unfolded!

Here are a few shots to document their lives with….. Bill & Ang, (didn’t post the maternity shots for privacy reasons), Maddy on that day she came right from the hospital, and a few updated photos of Madeline now, who is now 3 years old. Thanks for a fun time together guys….. it was so great to see you and hang out!

Now Offering New Wedding & Gift Registry Certificates!

In a continuous effort to improve customer options and abilities, we have added a new feature to our website, which will allow friends & family to purchase photography gift certificates online! This option can be given out as a wedding or gift registry idea and can be applied in a number of different ways such as:

We’ve been asked a few times about offering this option, and we definitely listen to what our clients want, so here ya go! Your gift can either be directly emailed to the recipient or printed manually…… we really hope upcoming brides and grooms will let their friends and family know about this new option as it can make for a great gift (imagine having that luxury album you want paid for from gifts!) Maternity Session w/ Jacquelyn & Peter…….

After our morning session with Jared & Alina, Tonya and I had the opportunity to hang out with good friends, Jacquelyn & Peter to shoot some maternity photos, before the mystery baby is born (the sex is being kept a secret, which I think is pretty cool). It has been a long time since I have last seen Jacquelyn, and our friendship is one that has lasted for several years as we not only were able to capture their wedding day, but also used to work together for several years in the corporate world together. She is a great friend, and her husband, Peter, is without a doubt an awesome guy that’s always a lot of fun to be around.

As busy as we are shooting what seems like a never ending crazy calendar of events and portraits this year, I’m probably a bit guilty of sometimes forgetting the just how special some of the things I get to document truly are….. today was a reminder of this for me, and I was glad to be able to help document such a special time in Jacquely & Peter’s lives – It will be exciting to learn the sex and meet their new addition in a couple weeks (you’ll have to check back for newborn photos maybe :)

A huge thanks to Jac & Peter for making the trip up from New Paltz….. it was awesome to see you guys, and am so happy for you….. of course, I leave you with a few quick samples from our session together below….

P.S. I’ll be working behind the scenes this week to try and keep caught up with our insane workflow schedule, however will more than likely be taking a few days off. My birthday is this coming weekend (Friday), and Tonya is treating me to a getaway trip in the Adirondacks and a cabin on Lake Saranac (which I can’t wait for). It will be nice to get away, and I hope to get some cool photos while I’m up there to report back with. Have a great week everyone, and thanks for checking in :)
